The complexity of system design is not only related to the complexity of the used tools but also to the complexity of the problems to be solved. In this paper we present the design of an intelligent optical flow sensor for autonomous mobile platforms. Through the implementation steps of this application we show a solution for computer supported system design where from a given problem and its specification a mixed softwere hardwere solution is elaborated.
