Photomagnetic effects in cobalt doped garnet films

Photomagnctic effects were observed mainly at cryogenic temperatures in many kinds of magnetic materials, such as garnets, spinels, spin-glasses, magnetite, ferric borates, etc. [1]. The results of the investigation of approximately 10 μm thick Y₂Ca₁Fe₃.₉C₀₀.₁Ge₁O₁₂ samples grown by liquid phase epitaxy on (001) GGG substrate are discussed in this paper. Photomagnctic effects were found [2, 3] in these films up to room temperature. Two types of experiments were performed in order to study light induced changes of: - magnetization orientation in monodomain sample [4], - domain structure geometry [2, 3, 5]. [...]
