Roughness surface plays very important role in relation to the those machines where the high speed rotors are used. In the presented paper work authors assumed that topography of the shaft and the bearing can be described by the Gaussian distribution. This idea refers to the the stochastic structure called an anisotrophy surface. Based on this idea the film thickness (the oil gap) and then the hydrodynamical uplift forces for the so-called short slide bearing were calculated. The mathemetical model of the hydrodynamical uplift forces was used to evaluate the self-excited vibration in relation to functioning between shaft and slide bearing.
