In the paper possibilities of application of vision techniques for modal analysis are presented: The following tasks are discussed: a) automation of geometry mapping and measurement points localization, b) vibration measurement of selected elements of a construction, c) estimation of modal parameters based on image processing. For this purpose procedures and algorithms for image acquisition, pre-processing and image analysis were developed basis of classical image processing methods. The image analysis stage was accomplished by the region-oriented segmentation technique. The information about centeroids of the analysed objects (a steel frame) were obtained as the result of application of this method. Developed algorithms were implemented and tested in MATLAB package. Necessary vision data were received from high-speed digital camera “X-Stream Vision” in the form of “avi” files.
