A one-dimensional position measurement using pseudorandom encoding is discussed. An application in crane position measurement is described. This solution simultaneously provides high standards in solving the crane displacement problem. The solution is based on the application of developed hybrid pseudorandom linear encoder, which provides a frequent autocalibration of the measurement system in a simple manner. On the basis of the experimental results of the developed encoder functioning, the discussion about the possibility of its application for crane positioning, as well as the concrete possibility of the proposed solution are given. The discussion about the possibility of this solution to solve the crane displacement problem also is given.
