Polymers are realy used directly as materials because, they not fulfill all technical requirements and become optimal useful after adding certain property improvers named additives. There are mostly low molecular weight compounds, oligomers or functional polymers. Modern classyfication of additives is in there categories: modifiers, property extenders and processing aids. In this presentation the development, classyfication, economy as well as the relationship between polymer and additive structures and the mechanisms of their interaction will be reviewed.
