In the strategy of system transformation the conversion of state property into private property, which means creating the basics of market economy, has been accepted as the main task. Carrying out this task which has been called state companies privatization, had different pace, scope and influence on economic growth. Differentiating forms of ownership is of methodological character and constitutes a certain analytical model which can be applied to studying the institutional transformation of economy. The application research in this article demonstrates the influence of the ownership form on the activity of companies. The attention has been paid to quantitative aspects and results of state companies privatization in years 1999-2005. The research shows the changes of ownership relations particularly in the period in which the private sector became more dominating than the state sector and shows how the individual forms of privatization on the level and rate.
