Rapid technological advancements observed in banking sector results from strong competition, which is intensified by globalization process and on the other hand due to diffusion process of the latest IT technology achievements in this sector. Internet technology changed the terms and conditions of providing banking activity. There are some differences regarding development of Internet banking in the world. A framework of Internet banking adoption developed in many countries (e.g. US, Singapore, UK, Scandinavian countries, Poland) identified national environment, government ICT policy and some socio-economic conditions having an influence on diffusion of Internet banking. The latest observations confirmed that there are some barriers which stand in the way of diffusion of Internet banking. The aim of this article is to show some of the environmental obstacles. The terms and conditions created mainly by macro and microeconomic environment, some sociological and law factors have a primary implications for proper diffusion of Internet technology in banks and other institutions, which lead to establish bases of Information Society.
