Constantly growing popularity of relational database systems combined with great reliability and security they offer pushes many enterprises to move their existing software to RDBMS technology. One of the most renowned relational products supplier is Oracle. In the past ten years a lot of applications have been rewritten in order to take adventage of the power of relational products provided by Oracle. Many of these applications have originally been destined to support Microsoft FoxPro. Different data types used in FoxPro and Oracle makes the process somewhat difficult, requiring database developers to spend a lot of time on analyzing any possible data precision loss. This paper proposes an algorithm destined to ease a process of data migration between Oracle and FoxPro environments.
