Influence of fertilization with ash from Dolna Odra powerplant on yield and chemical composition of Meadow Sward

The experiment was conducted in 1996 - 1998 on blue-grass meadow, located on mineral-organic soil. The study pertained to the effectiveness of fertilization with ash (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 t-ha exp. -1) applied without or with nitrogen (120 kg-ha exp.-1). The floristic composition of the sward, its chemical composition, i.e. the contents of macro- and microelements in the grasses and dicot plants were analysed. The botanical analysis (by weight) did show that the following species reacted positively to ash fertilization: Festuca rubra, Festuca pratensis and Alopecurus pratensis. Fertilization with ash only, had no positive impact, whereas it enhanced the effect of nitrogen. The applied fertilizers had beneficial influence on the contents of macro- and microelements.
