Utilization of the reformate low-boiling fraction

The objective of the study was to investigate the possibility of sending the low-boiling (T < 100°C) fraction distilled off from the fuel reformate to the aromatic hydrocarbon extraction process. The extraction was carried out for the aromatic reformate, as well as for the feeds with low-boiling fraction volumes of 30% and 70%. The counter-current three-stage extraction method was used under the following conditions: temperature, 50°C; feed/solvent ratio, 1:4; solvent, N-methylpyrolidone and monoetylene glycol at a weight ratio of 60:40. It was found that the low-boiling fraction volume in the feed must not exceed 30%. When the low-boiling fraction volume amounted to 70% the yield of the extract decreased by about 16 wt.-%, and there was further decrease in the extraction factors for C6 - C8 aromatic hydrocarbons. The results of aromatic hydrocarbon extraction for aromatic reformate can be improved by increasing the feed/solvent ratio from 1:4 do 1:6.
