Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) are nowadays a standard way to improve the competitiveness of organizations, provided that the systems are implemented correctly. The process of selecting and implementation of ERP system is expensive and time consuming therefore requires from the enterprise fully commitment in the project. The first phase of the project of implementation of ERP system is selecting a software package and vendor that meets the requirements of the organization. The property definitions of assumptions and limitations of the enterprise requirements decide on the stage about success or defeat of the whole project. In the article we present a procedure, which prepares the company to the proper implementation of an ERP system. The procedure is based on the determination of critical decisions in the functional areas of the manufacturing company. As a result of the procedure is ready project of the implementation of ERP system in the company. The procedure is prepared on the base of the practical experiences of the authors in their consulting practice of ERP systems implementation.
