In Jagiellionian Library in Cracow in Old and Rare Department there is a works entitled "Questiono Meteorologica De Natura, Causis, Numero, atque Motu Ventorum" (Meteorological dissertation about the nature, causes, a number and movement of winds). It was presented for the public discus-sion in Cracow in 1645. It was written by Stanislaw Temberski, a professor of Cracowian Academy, a canon of many collegiate churches, a recognized historiographer, one of outstanding professors of the Jagiellonnian University at that time. The conclusions presented by him are, in many cases, con-sistent with principles of the medieval knowledge. They also contain many accurate remarks. Tem-berski proved to be an inquiring observer, attributing the Earth a large influence on the state of the atmosphere. He paid attention to the cause of the occurrence and disappearance of precipitation. He paid attention to the danger of air and water stagnation which could even be a cause of death. Ac-cording to him, land exhalation (the influence of the surface of the Earth) is the cause of dew forma-tion, precipitation and atmospherical discharges. He knew the multidirectional wind rose. He attrib-uted hygrothermal properties to the given winds, in majority in accordance with physiological sense of their action. He paid attention to the existence of vertical air movements. He showed the charac-teristic of air movements corresponding with circulation in high and low pressure areas.
