Abstrakty
The present study encompasses the results of the floristic and phytosociological field research carried out in the region of Garb Tarnogórski, in the area of Podwarpie near Wojkowice Koscielne and Siewierz in the Silesian Upland, in the years 1990-1995. The investigated area located in close vicinity of the Upper Silesian Industrial District agglomeration, occupying its northernmost limits. The area in question stands out as characteristic for the concentration of rare and very rare elements of vascular flora, including a numerous group of species placed under legal protection(the total of 21 species). The investigated region is particularly valuable bbecause of bundant occurrence of Euphorbia epithymoides L. - a plant extremely rare in Poland. The area under research is the northernmost European locality of this species and, at the same time, the only region in Poland in which the plant occurs in the natural state (the region of Tuliszów-Dąbrowa Górnicza). Because of the uniqueness of the discussed area, it is proposed that a floristic nature reserve be established within its limits. The reserve would serve the purposes of protection and conservation of the habitats of Euphorbia epithymoides and the whole numerous group of rare plants, including those legally protected. The floristic records made in the area of the projected nature reserve included 280 of vascular plant species, and in this number 21 protected species (14 species under strict protection and 7 species under partial protection), and 31 species occurring as rare and very rare in the scale of the region of the Silesian Upland. The syntaxonomical diversity of the vegetation encompasses 5 major plant associations and 1 Community, characterized by a significant level of naturalness. From the floristic perspective, the richest associations are Peucedano cervariae-Coryletum and Origano-Brachypodietum pinnati. In this region there occur two dominant types of vegetation, both characteristic for Jurassic nature and formed in the habitats developed on limestone-based substrata (the Triassic lime stone - muschelkalk), namely a) thermophilous hazel shrubs Peucedano cervariae-Coryletum with associations of hawthorn (Crataegus sp.div.) and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and b) xerothermic calciphilous grasslands Origano-Brachypodietum pinnati, floristically largely impoverished, in most cases dominated by Brachypodium pinatum. In places anthropogenically deformed (such as roadsides and path-sides, the limits of the old quarry etc.) synanthropic vegetation of ruderal type, develops which, in the scale of the whole space proposed to be placed under legal protection, does not cover a large area. In the area surrounding the hill, agricultural landscape is dominant.
