A series of four copper(II) complexes, with porphyrinic ligands: 5,10,15,20- tetrakisphenyl- 21,23-H-porphine (TPP), 5-(4-hydroxyphenyl)- 10,15,20-tri-phenyl- 21,23- H- porphine (TPPOHp), 5-(3-hydro xyphenyl)-10,15,20-tri-phenyl-21,23-H-porphine (TPPOHm), 5-(2- hydroxyphenyl)-10,15,20-tri-phenyl-21,23-H-porphine (TPPOHo), were synthesized in a 1:1 molar ratio and characterized by elemenal analysis, FTIR, EPR, and UV-Vis spectroscopies. In all cases, the free-base porphyrin operated as tetradentate ligands through the four pyrrole nitrogen atoms. Elemental analysis, EPR, FTIR and UV-Vis fully confirmed the structure of the complexes. Finally, UV-Vis showed that the spectral absorption of the four complexes was blue shifted by about 50 nm com pared to that of the metal-free ligands.
