New interactions in boundary layer metal-oil
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The internal friction ( Q -1 ) and shear modulus ( G ) of metals covered with mineral oil and grease were measured using the simple torsion pendulum technique. Measuring changed from 10 Hz to 30 Hz. Almost in all cases the complex spectrum of internal friction Q-1'( T ) in the temperature range between 150 K and 350 K was observed. Q-1( T ) maxima observed in the spectra are accompanied by strong changes of modulus up to 6%.] complexity mentioned above is not observed for clean , uncovered metals. The inv reported here, complement with the results of anelastic properties ( tg8 ) and measurements for oil, allow to propose the interpretation of observed effects. Two basic phenomena occuring in the boundary layer i.e. solidification of oil and dissocistive chemisorption of hydrocarbons together with diffusion of hydrogen to the upper metal layer have the principal influence on the elastic and anelastic properties of metal samples in the experiment.
