The paper presents the study of ceramic TBC for internal combustion engines. Based on experimental results of heat transfer measurements, made both on spark-ignition and diesel engine as well as on engine test stand, it was found that plasma-sprayed zirconia ceramic TBC, being partially transparent to thermal radiation, are not effective in diesel engines.
