Modelling of no-formation in stratified charge SI engine

The presented model could be applied to the combustion process calculation of a stratified charge engine MESC-type. In the first step a simulation model was worked out for homogeneous mixture. It is based on the thermodynamic analysis of the combustion process in a conventional SI engine coupled with the so expanded Zeldovich-mechanism of NO-formation [1]. For the calculation of the NO-formation in stratified charge engine this model was transformed into two one-zone-models. The chemical part of the model is based on twelve chemical components that are typical for the combustion process calculation in SI engines [l, 2, 3, 4]. For some chemical reactions chemical equilibrium was assumed. To describe the combustion process course the Vibe-function was used. In the simulation 13 parameters can be changed. It was shown that the model reacts sensitive and properly to each of them. In the paper the results of some simulations show the sensitivity of the model to some chosen parameters and their influence on the NO-formation.
