Mathematical model of toxic compound emissions in exhaust gases produced by marine engines

The paper presents a mathematical model of the processes that occur in a four-stroke compression ignition engine, which can be used to develop a program to simulate these processes. In simulation investigations the program enables defining the courses of state parameters of the working medium as well as the concentration of its constituents, including concentrations of the basic toxic compounds: CO, NO, NOX. The model includes compression-expansion, fuel burning and charge exchange. At each of the simulation steps it is possible to determine the concentration of toxic compounds, including their concentrations in exhaust gases. The model adequacy is expected to be experimentally evaluated during laboratory tests on a Sulzer 6AL20/24 engine.
