Polarographic and spectrophotometric investigations of Cu(II) complex formation with CDTA (trans-cyclohexane-1,2-diaminetetraacetic acid), HEDTA (hydroxyetylethylenediaminetriacetic acid), TTHA (triethylenetetraaminehexaacetic acid) and EGTA (ethylenedioxydiethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) (so-called complexones) in alkaline solutions at 20 °C and J = 3 mol/l showed that Cu(II) ions form monohydroxycomplexes with CDTA and HEDTA anions, and dihydroxycomplex with TTHA anion alongside with the simple complexes. The formation of the hydroxycomplexes in the Cu(II)–EGTA anion system was not confirmed. The equilibrium constants of the hydroxycomplexes formation were determined. The stability constants, diffusion coefficient values and optical characteristics of the complex species discussed are given.
