Przedstawiono ważniejsze kierunki w badaniach i stosowaniu domieszek chemicznych do betonu w świetle materiałów X Międzynarodowego Kongresu Chemii Cementu, który odbył się w Gőteborgu w 1997 roku. Z analizy prezentowanych na Kongresie prac wynika, że mimo postępu w badaniach dotyczących mechanizmu działania domieszek w kompozytach cementowych wiele problemów pozostaje nadal nierozstrzygniętych, a rozwiązania niektórych z nich staja się nieraz źródłem nowych, kolejnych zagadnień wymagających wyjaśnienia.

Some important trends in investigations and application of admixtures for concrete, basing on the Proceedings of the 10th Intemational Congress on the Chemistry of Cement, held in Gőteborg in 1997, are presented. As it is shown by the analysis of the papers presented at this Congress, in spíte of a progress in the investigations concerning the mechanism of interaction and microstructure development of cement matrix composites many problems are still unsolved and some of the solutions are sometimes sources of new problems requiring new solutions.
