Deflections found in the structural elements which are places at the edges of deep trenches usualy have influence on the adjoining area, hence on the technical state of edifices located in near surroundinds. Such buildings have to be checked and possibly undergo additional safety measures before the construction of a new trench. This paper is also dedicated to the scope of diagnostic works and type of safety measures used for the existing structures. Information also includes an existing examle. General remarks were included at the end.
