Interpreting statements of National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, the magazine Lubricants World (monthly published) considers the rightness of base oils classification into mineral and synthetic. A new conception of the base oil classification into 5 groups have been presented. The base oils of group III, that includes base oils containing no less than 90% of saturated hydrocarbons and no more than 0,03% sulfur and viscosity index above 120 (VHVI bases), have been recognised as synthetic.
