The paper presents the character of damages that can be met in reinforced concrete silos and classifies of reasons of their occurrence. Description and critical analysis of existing methods of silos strengthening have been made, new possibilities within this range have beenpresented. It has been stated that the metods of strengthening of the low quality, corroded or cracked concrete exist, by using reprofilactical layers of mineral origin. The lack of horizontal tensiled reinforcement may be exchanged by the prestressing the silos with external low-friction tendons. Those tendons are anchoraged in "X" type anchorages in French version or by means of Polish anchorages anchoraged in steel pilasters, later covered with concrete together with anchorages. Both versions have been successfully used in Poland in many cases.
