Problem of an evaporation loss of engine oils and phosphorous compunds is considerate. The volatile phosphorous compounds present in the engine oils, reduce an activity of catalytic converters. It is shown that there is no correlation between the evaporation loss of engine oils and volatility of pfosphorous compounds. Nevertheless, necessity of development of new type of phosphorous compound with a lower volatility is suggested. To test the evaporation loss the Selby-Noack apparatus was used, it is a more advanced version of commonly used the Orginal Wood's Metal Noack.
