W artykule przedstawiono aktualne problemy dotyczące działalności Komitetu Studiów CIGRE B5. Opisano problematykę referatów zgłoszonych na 42 sesję plenarną CIGRE B5. Spośród referatów zwrócono uwagę na zagadnienia dotyczące wpływu szyny procesowej IEC 61850 -9-2 na system automatyki i zabezpieczeń stacji. Uwzględniono również wpływ standardu IEC 61850 na sposób zarządzania systemami zabezpieczeń i sterowania. Jak wynika z tytułów referatów, sesję zdominowała wyraźnie problematyka związana z implementacją standardu IEC 61850.
