Two-dimensional structure, e.g. thin-walled cylinder is considered. On the structure a twodimensional, curvilinear material coordinate system is introduced. This coordinate system deforms with the structure. Initial position and final value of the metric tensor are known. The final position of the structure must be calculated. A discrete set of points is defined. The coordinates of the metric tensor are approximated by the coordinates of these points. A numerical evaluation of the final position of considered structure has been proposed.
