The first author is currently working on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme - based within an engineering company in the West of Scotland, but employed by Glasgow Caledonian University. This paper presents and describes in detail the fundamentals of KTP projects, how they originated, the process of obtaining a KTP, and how they are funded, and the benefits they bring to all parties involved. The paper will also briefly discuss the author's actual engineering design project.
