Abstrakty

W niniejszym artykule rozważono wzajemne zależności i współdziałanie pomiędzy teorią i praktyką w kształtowaniu zawodowej działalności inżynierów. Przyjęto, że pod mianem teorii rozumie się tu, rozszerzająco, zdolność do kreatywnego myślenia - ów spiritus movens (motor działania) każdej racjonalnej aktywności człowieka, a tej dotyczącej inżyniera - w szczególności. Dlatego wysokie standardy wykształcenia ogólnego, poprzedzającego edukację w szkole wyższej i w samej tej szkole, powinny być przedmiotem dużej troski studentów, nauczycieli i praktyków inżynierii - aby móc wykształcić intelektualnie dojrzałych ludzi techniki. Wyrastające dziś przed inżynierem wyzwania wymagają od niego bowiem dużo więcej aniżeli tylko wiedzy czysto technicznej. Celem pracy jest podkreślenie tego faktu i, na przykładzie USA, zasygnalizowanie stosownego trendu edukacyjnego na politechnikach.

This paper considers the mutual relationship and cooperation between the engineering theory and practice in the development of the professional performance of engineers. Here, the theory is understood as the abilitz of creative thinking - the spiritus movens (moving spirit) of any reasonable human activity, and that of the engineer's - in particular. Therefore, high standards of general education preceding the university schooling, and at the university itself, should be of much concern for the engineering students, educators, and practitioners - in order to develop intellectually mature human-engineers. The non-technical demands, placed upon the engineer today, require much more than his pure technical capabilities. The objective of this paper is to underline that fact and, on the example of the USA, to sygnalize the relevant educational trend, presently visible at the technical universities.
