Abstrakty
In the work, the fast multipole boundary element method (FMBEM) algorithm for two-dimensional elastostatics is presented. The computation time and the memory for the standard BEM are of order of N2, where N is the number of degrees of freedom (DOF) of the structure. For the FMBEM the quantities are reduced to O(N). A numerical example of a plate discretized with many boundary elements is presented. The dependence of accuracy on number of DOF is investigated. The memory and the computation time for the standard BEM and the FMBEM are compared.
