Phosphate nodules in the condensed Brentskardhaugen Bed (Toarcian-Bathonian) of Spitsbergen show microstructures suggesting stages of diagenetic and burial recrystallization of sedimentary apatite. Remnants of the primary globular apatitic fabric witness rapid development of mineral phosphate phase in nearsurface environment of the condensed sediment facies. This primary fabric was a subject of diagenetic recrystallization to provide two distinct secondary fabrics composed of: (i) radial-fibrous apatite, and (ii) blocky apatite. The development of these fabrics was a result of shallow and deep burial processes, respectively.
