In the paper, a stereomechanic analysis of the cutting edges of a band saw in an established cutting process with a variable depth of machining has been presented. The numerical calculations were carried out according to the finite element method using the computer system MSC/Patran with the computational module MSC/Nastran. In the modelling process, the geometrical nonlinearities resulting from the contact of the cutting surface of the band saw sector model with the machined material were taken into consideration. The selected results of numerical calculations have been gathered: in figures, graphically in a diagram and in the form of a colourful map of Hertz's stresses.
