W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań stali 18G2A, z której wykonano wysięgnik koła czerpakowego koparki SRs1200. Wysięgnik ten po okresie 31 lat eksploatacji maszyny uległ deformacji, co spowodowało decyzję o jego wymianie.Na podstawie wyników badań metalograficznych i wytrzymałościowych wykazano, że przyczyną uszkodzenia nie były zmiany degradacyjne materiału konstrukcyjnego. Nie stwierdzono bowiem zmian strukturalnych, mikropęknięć czy niekorzystnych zmian wskaźników wytrzymałościowych. Normalizowanie stali w stanie poeksploatacyjnym nie spowodowała znaczących zmian struktur, wywołując jednak zmiany wytrzymałościowe.Analiza porównawcza stali 18G2 i 18G2A wskazuje na lepszy zespół cech tego drugiego materiału. Dotyczy to wszczególności udarności w obniżonych temperaturach oraz stosunku Re/Rm.

In this work are presented the results of investigations and tests on steel 18G2A of which the jib of dipper's wheel of excavator SRs 1200 was made. This jib deformated after 31 years period of exploitation. It caused the decision-making about the exchange of the jib. This work aimed at establishing of the damage could be caused by the material reasons. Another purpose was making the comparative analysis of that steel with the steel grade 18G2 exploited in period from 20 to 55 years. By the methods of lighting and scanning microscopy, measurements of hardness and impact tests (in temperatures +20C and -20C) and tests of endurance onto expansion the investigations were made. Whole cycle of investigations concerned the material after exploitation and after normalizing annealing. During the microscopic observations of tested steel there weren't found any structural changes, which might be caused by degradation. There were met standards requirements concerned the relate requirements of stamina's coefficients. The normalizing process did not evoke changes of structure identified by applied methods of tests however it caused the increase fo mean values of: Rmabout 3%, Re about 2%, KCVP(+20C) about 36%, KCVP(-20C) about 16%, KCVW(+20C) about 3% and KCVW(-20C) about 90%. In both states - after exploitation and after normalizing profitable relations Re/Rm were obtained - suitably 0,625 and 0,621.Comparative analysis with steel 18G2 shows the supremacy of steel 18G2A. after 25 years of exploitation in this first grade of steel the occurrence of microfractures connected with the presence of nonmetallic interpolations and worse reports of stamina's coefficients were observed.
