Possibilites of local polish market enrichment by greek marble stone elements

Na tle aktualnego wydobycia i przerobu kamiennych polskich wyrobów marmurowych przedstawiono możliwości wzbogacenia rynku krajowego importem z Grecji. Scharakteryzowano bazę zasobów marmurów greckich i główne ośrodki wydobywczo-przeróbcze oraz podano ich zdolności produkcyjne i eksportowe. Wskazano na możliwości rozszerzenia krajowego asortymentu o marmury greckie i zniwelowania luki rodzajowej asortymentów kamienia naturalnego.
In building stone production structure, the dominant role is occupied by granites (~64%) and sandstones (~26%). Marble production is very limited and is about 1% of the total output. However, marbles are widely imported to Poland mostly from Italy and Turkey. Greece can also easily become a major source of marbles. Present market situation indicates that it is an undervalued partner. Therefore, possible potential of Greece stone industry was assessed. Resource and production base of high quality marbles was characterized. Application of Greek marbles is very wide due its high quality and full palette of colors and therefore they are widely used in construction, architecture, artistic artifacts, monuments and tombstones. Paper presents also, a comparative study of the basic physico-mechanical parameters of Polish and Greek marbles. Marbles are natural, human friendly, high quality building materials that should find its respective place in construction and architecture.
