Presented in the article is a preventive nitrogen treatment of the gob of a longwall caving system and the course of variation of carbon monoxide concentration in the circulating air current of that system. Discussed are three variants of nitrogen treatment performed under different ventilation conditions and with different distribution pattern of potential field within that longwall system.
