Abstrakty

An influence of substituents at quaternary nitrogen atom of ammonium salts used for modification of bentonites on their adsorptive properties towards styrene vapours has been studied. The best properties have been found for bentonites modified with quaternary ammonium salts which consisted of at least one aromatic substituent (preferably benzyl one) and a branched aliphatic substituent with a long carbon chain (more than 8 carbon atoms). It has been shown that the selected modified bentonites are better adsorbers of styrene vapours than the popular active carbon.
