In the paper an analysis of the influence of different leadership styles on the relationship between R&D-related resources and product innovation is presented. The results of the analysis show that leadership styles have a significant impact on the relationship between R&D-related human capital as well as R&D-related relational capital and product innovation. In particularly, transactional leadership negatively moderates the positive relationship between R&D-related human capital as well as R&D-related relational capital and product innovation, while transformational leadership positively moderates established relationship between them. The interaction terms between R&D-related financial capital and both transactional and transformational leadership are not significant. The study of a sample of 219 Polish companies from Silesia Region (with at least 20 full time employees) contributes to the emerging literature on innovation by providing a moderated model and by integration of innovation and leadership aspects.
