The key aim of this paper is the presentation of current trends in the development of food distribution systems in Poland and their likely remodelling towards supply chains and networks sustanability. The new circumstances on the emerging markets such as Poland, in particular after its accession to the European Union, create new market challenges to be overcome with the use of information technology. The new technology will also support the remodelling of supply chains and networks based on the transparency strategy by improving the chain effectiveness, and build partnership relations between the ac tors "to meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". It gives possibility to apply a procedure of Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed in Poland.

Głównym celem artykułu jest prezentacja aktualnych kierunków rozwoju systemów dystrybucji żywności w Polsce oraz możliwość ich przekształcenia w łańcuchy dostawcze i sieci. Nowe okoliczności zachodzące na wschodzących rynkach takich jak Polska w związku z wejściem do Unii Europejskiej tworzą nowe wyzwania rynkowe, które muszą być przezwyciężane przez technologie informacyjne. Nowa technologia będzie wspierać przekształcanie łańcuchów dostaw i sieci oparte na strategii przejrzystości poprzez zwiększanie wydajności łańcucha i budowanie relacji partnerskich pomiędzy uczestnikami poprzez zwiększanie ich konkurencyjności dostaw żywności.
