This paper presents the approximation problem of track irregularities, as well as, of wheel and rail rolling surfaces, which influence vehicIe-track interactions. We endeavour here to define geometricaI irregularities of track and present selected methods of their mathematicaI description. The importance of initial processing of measured data describing wheel and rail profiles is particularly stressed. We compare approximation methods for measured wheel and rail profiles and discuss their effect on variations of wheel-rail contact parameters.

Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie aproksymacji nieregularności torowiska, a także powierzchni kół pociągu i szyn kolejowych, które mają wpływ na wzajemne oddziaływanie pomiędzy wagonem i torem kolejowym. Zdefiniowane są metody matematyczne służące do opisu geometrycznych nieregularności nawierzchni torów. Podkreślona została na podstawie przeprowadzonych pomiarów szczególna potrzeba wstępnej obróbki profili kół i szyn. Pracę kończy porównanie metod przybliżonych proponowanych do mierzenia profili kół i szyn oraz dyskusja uzyskanych efektów w przypadku różnych wariantów parametrów ich styku.
