This paper presents in outline an original method of modelling and simulation studies of a car nonlinear dynamics including freeplay and friction in a steering system. The description of freeplay and friction in a steering mechanism bases on the luz(...) and tar(...) piecewise - linear projections. For description a vehicle movement dynamics was taken into account among other things a roll-of-body effect, a transient comering resistance with tire relaxation phenomenon, an aerodynamics and so on. Different structures of steering system - 2WS (mechanical, as well as, power assisted) and 4WS were studied. Simulations concemed the standard ECE and ISO road tests. Elaborated models permitted to simulate peculiar freeplay and frictional effects in steering systems, e.g.: the stick-slip phenomenon.

W artykule przedstawiono w ogólnym zarysie nową metodę modelowania i symulacji nieliniowej dynamiki samochodu z uwzględnieniem luzu i tarcia w układzie kierowniczym. W modelowaniu luzu i tarcia w mechanizmie kierowniczym wykorzystano koncepcję przedziałami - liniowych odwzorowań luz(...) i tar(...). W opisie dynamiki ruchu pojazdu uwzględniono przechył boczny, opór znoszenia ze zjawiskiem relaksacyjnym opony, aerodynamikę itd. Badaniami objęto różne struktury układu kierowniczego - 2WS (mechaniczny i ze wspomaganiem) oraz 4WS. Badania symulacyjne dotyczyły standardowych testów drogowych przewidzianych w normach i regulaminach ECE oraz ISO. Opracowane modele pozwoliły przeprowadzić badania symulacyjne osobliwych zjawisk (np. stick-slip), występujących w układach kierowniczych w obecności luzu i tarcia.
