Results of the examination carried out with respect to the absolute age of the Zielona Góra Line

W zaprezentowanej pracy podano ocenę wieku bezwzględnego z wykorzystaniem metody termoluminescencji (TL) osadów głównie związanych ze zlodowaceniem północnopolskim (bałtyckim, Wisły). Wiek tych osadów w dotychczasowej literaturze geologicznej jest oceniany na około 20 tys. lat BP. Badania zostały wykonane na Uniwersytecie Gdańskim w 1997 r. Poddano analizie 12 próbek, których lokalizację zamieszczono na rys.1 i rys.2 Z badań tych wynika, że w niektórych przypadkach określenie wieku metodą TL potwierdziło wcześniejsze dane geologiczne. Nie można odnieść tego do oceny wieku TL dla glin, uznawanych dotychczas za gliny zlodowacenia środkowopolskiego. Dotyczy to przede wszystkim glin występujących w Datyniu, Raculi, i Zielonej Górze. Z badań wieku TL wynika, że gliny te są zdecydowanie młodsze niż to przyjmowano dotychczas. Zdaniem autorów wymagana jest dalsza szczegółowa analiza dla większej ilości prób. Badania te powinny objąć nie tylko obszar Wału Zielonogórskiego ale również i tereny do niego przyległe.
The paper presents for the time in geological bibliography an evaluation of absolute age by means of thermoluminescence method (TL) of deposits mainly related to the North-Polish Glaciation ( theBaltic Sea Glaciation and the Vistula river Glaciation). Until the time of the research work, which was carried out at the University of Gdańsk in 1997, the age of the said deposits had been estimated at 20 thousand BP. 12 samples, whose location is presented in fig.1 and fig.2, were analysed and the results of these analyses are shown in taaable 1. The research work led to the conclusion that in particular cases evaluation of age by TL method proved earlier geological data. This, however, cannot be referred to TL age evaluation for clays, which so far have been recognized as clays formed during the Middle Polish Glaciation. This statement concerns mainly clays that occur in Datyń, Racula and Zielona Góra. It may be concluded from the tests on TL age evaluation that those clays are much youunger than it has been assumed so far. The authors claim that this subject needs a futher, exhaustive analysis with a greater number of tests. Those tests should not only refer to the area of the Zielona Góra Line, but should include the area adjacent to it as well.
