The interdependencies between agriculture and national economy on the base of Polish transformation

The article, having explained the preliminary assumptions, presents the planes of linkages of agriculture to the national economy, concentrating on the macroeconomic conditionings of the process of concentration and distribution of farmers' incomes and on the adaptation mechanism of individual farms, characteristic of family ownership. The functioning of this mechanism has been presented under different systemie conditions. While discussing the transformation, which has taken place in Poland so far, the author points out, the destructive influence exerted on agriculture by the liberal strategy ofdemand restriction, applied after 1989. This obstructed the structural changes and caused the release of free reserves of productive agents from agriculture which find no application 41 the further processes of economie transformations. The author indicates the need to change this strategy into the pro-supply and pro-income strategy, supported by a reasonable state interventionism.
