Some investigations and their results, concerning first of all improvement of lubricants (and cutting fluids in this number) efficiency are described in the paper. Many models of machining systems operation underline significant role of friction phenomena in cutting processes. The friction occurs between cutting tool and surface of machined material as well as between cutting tool and a chip. For this reason described investigations were mainly aimed on using metal powders to modification of cutting fluids tribological properties. There are recently many reports concerning very wide application of nano-structures (nano-particles, nano-wires and nano-tubes) in technology. Nano-structures create new quality as they possess extraordinary physical features connected with electrical structure. Existing references as well as author's own examination testify to possibility of nano-powder (composed of nano-particles) use as additives to lubricants, improving their tribological properties manifested in frictional joints. Results of examination presented in the paper give some information about modification of cutting oils with nano-powders of copper and molybdenum use. They testify to effective influence of such oils modification on tribological properties of kinematical joints improvement in the direction of frictional resistance and wear decrease.
