Abstrakty

EN

The notion of a sustainable habitat includes a series of important references to the conference theses. We may say that the noun habitat personifies the desired and expected high quality of life, while the adjective sustainable shows how this quality of life coexists with the environment. Here, we usually mean the natural environment, water, greenery or nonrenewable and renewable sources of energy. If we treat a habitat as a living, unit however, its dwelling environment is a city in most cases. Unfortunately, the excessive an chaotic growth of housing structures generates and intensifies spatial chaos observed in Poland and some other countries. Is it possible to stop the extension of cities which we have been trying to do for years? Is the preferred, familiar spatial structure of a modified urban quarter with a green interior a recipe for the from of habitat? perhaps, in the era of diversity in certain spheres of life and globalization in the others, the standards of sustainable design will eventually become this one and only common determinant.
