EN

The term "interoperability" has gained popularity in Geographic Information (GI). With regard to GIS interoperability provides, among others, the possibility to use dispersed information resources and to save time. Therefore, a number of information firms, e.g. ESRI and Intergraph, introduce extensions, which enable interoperability of GIS systems. The essence of interoperability is presented in the paper on simple examples related to GI performed with the use of ESRI software with ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension.
