Abstrakty
This paper describes the construction and materials of a HTS magnet for superconducting energy storage system (SMES). The 7 double pancake windings was made from 14 pieces about 100 m length made by Bi-2223 American Superconductor HTS Height Strength Stainless Steel Laminated Tape. The winding was epoxy impregnated and insulated by polyimide. film (Kapton). The material for magnet bobbin is aluminium 6063. The cooling system is based on Gifford McMahon cryocooler. The estimated value of stored energy in the SMES magnet under the operating temperature 20 K is 25 kJ.
