In our society we have to reconsider the traditional ways of design and introduction of technology. The developments such as telework and virtual organization may involve a more fundamental change to the phenomenon of work than a mere innovation in work practices. This assumption is based on the argument that traditional meanings of work are grounded in specific social practices, which arc temporarily and spatially constituted and from which work-related experiences arise. For most people work was intimately tied with models, where work was undertaken in specially designed 'workplace', and occurred during commonly held work hours. However, new technology and new patterns of interaction create new forms of flexible working practices. Particularly tele-work which is flexible when organizing a job without the actual attendance at the job place and implies the use of technologies related to information technology poses threats for the labor processes in the longer term. The increasing of people working at home makes it important to analyze the consequences of this development for their skills, motivation, self-identity and family life. To avoid paradoxes caused by teleworking, the teleworkers will need to become a priority for the management of work, i.e., the duties of employers and the rights of employees must be considered more fully. We need a psychological focus on the human in a situation, of collaborating both with technology and ergonomic expertise.
