The author is of an opinion that most of the activities currently undertaken to implement the concept of smart metering in Poland are aimed at equipping 15 million electricity end users with "smart meters". however, the idea of smart metering is something more than just replacing all the induction meters installed in the houses connected to low voltage networks, and initiating the transmission of measurement data to the central and local data centres.
