Automatyczne generowanie sonarowej mapy dna natrafia na liczne problemy, spośród których w przedstawionym artykule zwrócono uwagę na skutki różnic w rozdzielczości obrazów sonarowych oraz mozaiki. Zaproponowano także nowy algorytm odwzorowywania linii obrazu, który pozwoli zwiększyć rozdzielczość docelowej mozaiki.

The idea of automatic sonar map synthesis is presented in the paper. The map is created on the basis of sidescan sonar images and georeference for each line of the images. The map in the form of sonar images mosaic gives more useful information than separate images. Automation of the mosaicing process significantly reduces time and cost of its creation. Additional advantage is the possibility of creating a sonar map during the survey, helping the crew to get more complete coverage of the examined area. In the paper, different algorithms for mapping sonar image line into the mosaic were discussed with regard to the quality of the sonar map obtained. The results of the experiments made with the use of prototype software to implement the methods discussed, were presented.
