The Polish Association for Spatial Information (PASI) has been the only member of Open Geospatial Consortium since 2006. PASI represents in OGC the Polish geospatial information community. OGC is the biggest international organization conducting development works on specifications and standards in the area of geoinformation. OGC plays a leading role in development of geospatial systems interoperability and the scope and detail of conducted works could not be overestimated. The OWS (OGC Web Services Initiative) realized in the successive stages is one of the most important programs of OGC. At present, the fifth stage of works (OWS-5) has been finished and preparations for the next stage (OWS-6) are in progress. This article presents the results of works in OWS-5 stage against the background of previous stages of the project, as well as the significance of the results of OWS-5 and of other projects realized in OGC for future architecture and future technologies of the Polish national geospatial data infrastructure.
